5-Star X-Factors

A wonderful Tuscan experience in a beautifully-restored and opulent villa hotel

Villa Cora

The beautiful, aristocratic Villa Cora is situated within a magical centuries-old park overlooking the Boboli Gardens, south of the historical centre of Florence.

This grand aristocratic villa, resplendent in a pale pinky peach hue, was built in the mid-nineteenth century, commissioned by Baron Oppenhelm and represents a fabulous architectural testament to this period.

Villa Cora became an exclusive grand hotel in 1960 then underwent an extensive three-year restoration in 2010, becoming a Relais & Chateaux member on re-opening in 2013. This gorgeous villa hotel has earned a reputation as one of the most captivating luxury 5-star hotels in all of Florence but is not at all stuffy, welcoming families and discerning luxury explorers alike.

As a stylish and aesthetically pleasing retreat set in a park outside the bustling city, Villa Cora is a magical setting. Rooms are opulent and decorated in the grand style beloved by Napoleon, who, incidentally actually stayed here. Bathrooms are all Carrara marble and beauty products are by Officina Profumo-Farmaceutica of Santa Maria Novella.

The salons are grand and certainly impress. especially "the Mirrors Room" with its decadent Baroque gilded ceiling and beautiful parquet floor. This majestic salon leads onto a large panoramic terrace with exquisite sunset views over the city.

The hotel exudes warmth and enjoys magical gardens, a cossetting spa and formal and poolside restaurants, although, we have to say, we were disappointed by the cuisine during our last stay. The Bellevue roof terrace, however, will take your breath away, with views over the city while you sip your cocktail or flute of champagne.
