5-star guide to Serifos

It's said that 'when in Rome, do as the Romans do' and this is no less true for their imperial predecessors, the Athenians. For those in-the-know, Serifos is one of the Greek Island that discerning Athenians escape to when they need a break from the city.

Serifos is the lesser-known Aegean island cousin of Santorini and Mykonos. It is a conveniently short ferry ride from Athens to the port of Livadi and, once you have left the bustling port and its bars and tavernas, it soon feels like the unspoilt Greece of yesteryear, with little traffic, quiet beaches and crystal-clear waters.

The beaches are one of this beautiful isle's greatest assets. According to locals, there are 72 of them and most seem deserted. It is not unusual to have a beach to yourself, even in high season. The locals' commitment to keeping the Cycladic architectural tradition alive also helps the authentic Greek Islands experience - a relaxing escape from the fast lane, where you can really unwind.

Our first handpicked villa on Serifos is Villa Margot - a perfect luxury villa to capture this authentic island experience, secluded on a vast estate where you can truly escape the outside world.
