5-star hotel guide to Indonesia

The islands of Bali, Lombok and Java are part of the Indonesian archipelago, a 5,200 km stretch of over  13,000 islands, stretching between Malaysia in the West and Australia in the East.

Bali has long been Indonesia's prime tourist spot, but there are several more equally worthy islands, including: lovely Lombok: exquisite Java, with its stupendous Bhuddist monument, Borobadur; tranquil Moyo Island; and beautiful Sumba.

We have cherry picked the choicest 5-star Balinese escapes, including Amandari, Amanusa and Amawana, the Oberoi, Uma by Como and, of course, Como Shambala, while Java brags perhaps Aman’s most astonishing resort, Amanjiwo, which means 'Peaceful Soul'. For the ultimate in exclusive ‘glamping’ splendour there is also a tented paradise on a tiny slice of tropical perfection on the Island of Moyo.

One of our favourite hideaways in the world is Nihi on Sumba, 300kms east of Bali, which really is the wild side of luxury, with sensational surfing, horse riding on the beach combined with dreamy villas, gourmet cuisine and a stunning spa. This is one of those very special places which we cannot recommend highly enough.
