The Cotswolds

An area of truly outstanding beauty

The Cotswolds

5-star hotel guide to The Cotswolds

The Cotswolds is one of England's areas of outstanding natural beauty, spanning six counties and offering a quintessentially English countryside experience.

Travelling through the Cotswolds is an opportuntity to take a step back from city life. A step away from a busy schedule, deadlines and traffic jams and into an England of quaint thatched villages, close-knit communities and pastoral landscapes.

While there is a wide and diverse choice of luxury accomodation on offer across the area, we have handpicked only the very best and are extending our search all the time.

If you would like to step into Jane Austen's shoes and stay in a grand estate, with vast grounds and impressive Georgian architecture, then you will be very much at home at Lucknam Park. This 5-star hotel has the great advantage of lying (just) within the Cotswolds boundary, whilst only being a half hour drive to the centre of Bath.

For a more 'villagey' Cotswolds experience, we recommend Barnsley House in the charming Gloucestershire village of Barnsley. Its boutique size, with only 18 bedrooms, means that a cosseting and cozy stay is instore, with excellent personal service. Explore the breathtaking gardens during the day, visit the pub for lunch, treat yourself to a treatment in the spa, and escape to the movies after dinner in the hotel's very own cinema at the bottom of the garden.

Sometimes a home-away-from-home can be just what you need, whether you are looking for a family escape or for an indulgent get-together with friends. Philippe Starck's The Lakes by Yoo has the answer for both. With a number of lakeside houses available for private rental by the week, or some for weekends, we can cater for different group sizes and special events and even organise a private Michelin-star chef. The Barnhouse, designed by Kate Moss, is a good example, where Notting Hill groove has been injected into a Cotswold escape with five bedrooms sleeping up top 10 guests, The Glasshouse is another, featuring fabulous lake views from its fully glazed elevations.
