5-star hotel guide to the Caribbean

With its powder-soft sandy beaches, manicured palms, private islands and laid-back vibe, the Caribbean does luxury rather well. If you're looking to celebrate an occasion, spoil a special someone, or just enjoy quality family time, you can't go wrong with any of our cherry-picked Caribbean delights.

Our Caribbean collection is small but perfectly formed and soon to expand once we've personally visited some potential gems in St. Barts, Mustique and Jamaica.

For now, we strongly recommend super-chic Carlisle Bay on the southern shores of Antigua, just 3 hours from Miami, 4 hours from New York and less than 9 from London. Antigua offers some of the finest beaches in the Caribbean and a laid back vibe, while Carlisle Bay is set between tropical rainforest and a crescent bay of groomed white sand. It is a stylish barefoot paradise with a pristine beach, friendly service and plenty of activities to enjoy, whether you are looking for a romantic escape or a family adventure.

On French Saint Martin, the delightfully secluded Belmond La Samanna is the finest 5 star resort on the island. Continuously ranked as one of the Caribbean's top ten luxury resorts, you can see why when you stay in a deluxe ocean-view room, suite or even one of the family-orientated 3 bedroom cottages.

The Turks and Caicos is another easy-to-get-to Caribbean destination with direct flights to Providenciales from New York, Miami and London. Here we strongly recommend the serene and intimate Amanyara on the western-edge of Providenciales, overlooking the pristine reefs of the Northwest Marine National Park, or  Parrot Cay by COMO - a luxury resort set on its own 1,000 acre private island with a mile long white sand beach. If you can't decide between the two  they are both equally stunning why not indulge in a luxury Turks & Caicos-hop to experience both, which we can easily arrange through our concierge service.

Our most exciting find in the Caribbean is our most recent. With 3,000 islands, cays and islets  The Bahamas is easy to reach via Nassau, with inter-island hops to the individual destinations. Our favourite resort is on the lovely elongated island of Eleuthera, where, just outside Govenor's Harbour, we discovered The Potlatch Club, now restored to much more than its former glory, a gem of a boutique beach resort with a perfect pink sand bay, crystal clear waters, glorious tropical gardens and beautiful suites, cottages and villas facing the ocean. Our exclusive pre-opening review will be published shortly, so return here at the beginning of December to find out more.
