Our Awards
Wine Spectator Grand Award
2003 - 2008
"Our highest award is given to those restaurants that show an uncompromising, passionate devotion to quality. These lists show serious depth of mature vintages, outstanding breadth in their vertical offerings, excellent harmony with the menu, superior organization and presentation and 1,250 or more selections."
'21' is one of only seven restaurants in New York City to receive this prestigious award. |
DiRoNA Award
Among '21's other numerous achievements, the restaurant has been bestowed with the DiRoNA Award (Distinguished Restaurants of North America), along with Where New York's "Visitors Choice Award" for best fine dining restaurant and best bar.
Bar Room Awards:
Gayot Review - August 2008 15/20 - "The historic setting, A-list and interesting patrons, cosseting service by old timers and top wine list keep this venerable establishment ticking, still a premier see-and-be-seen spot since its past life as a speakeasy in the '20s. Chef John Greeley's menu mixes '21' classics with creative contemporary offerings..."
4 Stars (out of four): The Forbes 2007 All-Star Eateries in New York, December 24, 2007
"Crain's New York Business" awarded the restaurant with 3 stars, the New York Law Journal gave it 3½, and Forbes magazine named '21' as one of its few 4 star restaurants for the ninth consecutive year!
6 Stars & 6 Stripes Overall - "Cuisine & Service"
Esquire’s Ten Favorite Cocktails in Bars, June 2008
#4 – Southside, ‘21’ Club
2008 Zagat Survey:
A “testament to NYC history”, this erstwhile Midtown speakeasy exuding “atmosphere galore” lures “heavy hitters” with “classic” Americana served in a “clubby”, jackets-required townhouse complete with 10 private rooms and a “secret” wine cellar, all overseen by an “unobtrusive” staff; for those daunted by the prices, the $40 pre-theater prix fixe may be the “deal of the century.” |
