Yangon

Formerly named ‘Rangoon’, Myanmar’s capital city gathers a population of 4 million, and is a very much distinct city, with which comparison with other Asian capitals is made difficult.

Parks, monuments and daily life activities take any visitor into the interesting Burmese urban lifestyle. At night, Yangon's wide boulevards come alive with hordes of stalls selling delicious and interesting food, cigars and bric-a-brac.

Rebuilt by the British in the early 19th century after it suffered a major fire, Yangon offers an old colonial architecture, although decaying, and a great sightseeing start.
