A joint venture between Morgans Hotel Group and Normandy Real Estate Partners will result in an exciting new addition to the Morgans portfolio. Ames, a historic Byzantine and Romanesque-style office building, was constructed in 1889 and is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. The building was Boston’s first skyscraper and remains one of the tallest masonry buildings on the east coast. An ideal location close to historic Faneuil Hall and the desirable residential neighborhood of Beacon Hill make Ames a destination for business and vacation travelers. Ames is expected to have approximately 115 guest rooms, a dynamic restaurant with a vibrant social buzz, an intimate bar and a fully equipped exercise facility.

Chicago will get its own bit of Sunset Strip vibe when Mondrian opens its doors in 2010. With approximately 200 guest rooms, Mondrian will be in the location of the former Cedar Hotel, at the intersection of State, Rush and Cedar Streets in the gold coast region of Chicago. The current masonry façade of the existing Cedar Hotel will be restored to preserve the building’s distinctive architectural features and many guest rooms will have stunning views of Lake Michigan. Like its sister resort in Los Angeles, Mondrian will bring an edgy nightlife buzz to Chi-town, with significant space for a destination restaurant and bar.

In 2011, Morgans Hotel Group will bring the excitement and glamour of Mondrian to Palm Springs. The resort plans call for a Mondrian with approximately 200 guest rooms, as well as residences available for sale. Located in the heart of downtown Palm Springs on Amado Road, the resort will be directly across from the newly renovated Palm Springs Convention Center and a short walk from the main downtown retail promenade. The five-story property is situated 10.5 acres and will include a destination restaurant and bar, a spa and fitness center as well as an expansive social pool area with cabanas and outdoor bar access, and a kids club. Leading architecture firm Gensler will oversee the property’s development and Marta Fry Landscape Architects is charged with creating an unforgettable environment outdoors.
