A few days ago at the Cooper Hewitt National Design Museum in New York, the “The Readers Choice Awards” gala event was held, during which the Conde Nast Traveler magazine announces the annual results of the readers’ vote.
During this twentieth election, Hotel Monasterio of Cusco, obtained for the third consecutive year “Best Hotel in South America” award, which was received by the Director General of Orient Express Perú, Mr. Laurent Carrasset.
The prestigious magazine Conde Nast Traveler, discloses these results by polling its thousands of readers who are generally frequent travelers and very demanding at the time of choosing.
Hotel Monasterio, ranks among the best hotels in South America due to its extraordinary characteristics, such as oxygen enriched rooms to counteract altitude sickness. Its facilities are considered as a Historic Monument by the National Institute of Culture. It houses the San Antonio de Abad Chapel, of exquisite baroque style with original works of art from Cusco School of Painting, which date bake to the 17th and 18th Centuries.
In previous years, Hotel Monasterio was chosen as venue for the Rio Group Presidential Summit, the Andean Summit and the South American Presidents’ Summit. In 2008, it will host various personalities and delegations that will arrive on the occasion of the APEC summit.
