Just two decades ago, Cuzco, together with many cities, was alive only during the day, beneath the clear blue sky and brilliant sun. Today, however, tourists have brought the magic of the night, with its promises of fun and new encounters, to Cuzco.

The nightlife here has become so varied that now there are places that cater to every taste. Organised tour groups, for instance, appreciate folklore at the Centro Qosqo de Arte Nativo. For international food choose the Inca Grill in the Main Square.

Those who prefer the tranquillity of the cafe or the variety of drinks that a pub has to offer, choose Varayoc, Plus Cafe, Trotamundo or the Cross Keys (which places a marked emphasis on environmental issues and touches of English humour).

Don't fail to go to Mama Africa, currently the most popular tourist haunt, or you'll miss an opportunity to experience a meeting between the West and the Andes. There are a couple of video bars where cinema amateurs can relax and enjoy a good film. Cuzco has a vibrant and cosmopolitan nightlife with an original Andean flavour.
