Sanbona Wildlife Reserve

Sanbona Wildlife Reserve encompasses 54,000 hectares of malaria free wilderness nestled in the haunting, semi-desert Klein Karoo landscape of the Western Cape. The Warmswatersberg mountains spiral across the reserve, with great diversity of flora and fauna, and a number of conservation projects to protect this haven. With the Big Five and free-roaming white lions roaming the bush, Sanbona offers so much more than a traditional Safari. Go on guided walks and approach cheetah on foot, or visit ancient Bushmen rock sites.

Sanbona is home to three different lodges, each located in the northern section of the reserve where the game viewing is best. Tilney Lodge is an old restored manor house, the first lodge on the reserve, reliving the safari days of Hemingway and company. Gondwana is a family friendly earthy establishment with gargantuan rooms and unsurpassed views, while Dwyka Lodge is simply sensational, a luxury tented camp that is tucked away in a horseshoe ravine beneath dramatic cliffs.
