The Grootbos Wine List
Like most things at Grootbos Nature Reserve, a lot of thought went into the compiling of our wine list.
As Grootbos sees itself as an establishment trying to support the local economy and develop sustainable livelihoods, you will find a great variety of excellent wines of the surrounding area, which boasts more than 70 wineries, on our wine list!
As the majority of our guests spend time in the famous wine regions of Stellenbosch and Franschhoek before or after visiting Grootbos, we would like to introduce you to our truly local wines.
Furthermore, you will find many wine estates on the list that are members of the Biodiversity & Wine Initiative (BWI). The BWI is a pioneering partnership between the South African wine industry and the conservation sector. The goals are to minimise the further loss of threatened natural habitat, and to contribute to sustainable wine production, through the adoption of biodiversity guidelines by the South African wine industry.
