LINLEY at Claridge's
Claridge’s has been a showcase for British design talent throughout its long history. This tradition continues today with the appointment of British furniture and design company LINLEY to create new interior schemes for 11 of its 63 suites.
LINLEY researched Claridge’s history extensively and drew upon archive material to produce both ‘traditional’ and 'Art Deco' suites. The first evoking the mood of the late 19th century, the time when Claridge’s elegant seven storeys were originally built and the second a contemporary interpretation of the spirit of the 1920s, the period in which Claridge’s added its ballroom and carried out extensive refurbishment of its restaurant, entrance and suites.
The rooms look and feel exceptional, in keeping with Claridge’s heritage but with every advantage of modern design and the recognisable LINLEY signature. And each suite is different, observant of Claridge’s long held design ethos and breadth of choice for the guest.
David, Viscount Linley said of this project, "I have loved Claridge’s since I was a small boy and visited often with my family. Creating
new interiors for this wonderful old hotel felt very natural to me. I adore the heritage and history of the place and have immensely enjoyed researching
and creating modern pieces of quality which work fluidly and sympathetically with the old bones of the property."
