"Eighty guests gathered in Venice to celebrate a 50th birthday in spectacular style. Having met up with one another around the Cipriani pool, the main celebrations got off to an exciting start with dinner at Palazzo Pisani Moretta, beside the Grand Canal. Dishes prepared by the Cipriani's chef were served in a magnificent room lit by huge chandeliers, with windows looking out onto gondolas drifting past below.
The next day, after breakfast beside the lagoon, a treasure hunt led guests around Venice's bacari (small local bars). Clues - and special delicacies - enticed guests towards a prize awaiting the winner at the end.
The programme built up to a gala dinner at the Granaries of the Republic, an ancient chamber beside the Venetian lagoon. During the evening, two trapeze artists performed a "dance" using white veils suspended from the ceiling to turn this great banquet into an unforgettable event."
