As the official Indian capital since 1911, the landlocked city of Delhi sits close to the Aravalli mountain range in northern India. New Delhi is located on the western end of the Gangetic Plain in the shadow of the dominating Delhi Ridge.
Lying to the west of the Yamuna River, New Delhi is easily accessible from the Indira Gandhi international airport which is only 35km from the city centre. Many international carriers have daily flights to and from New Delhi.
