Occupying the high mountain valleys between China to the north and India to the south, Bhutan has long been a mystery to the West. The Kingdom has maintained its traditional Mahayana Buddhist way of life for centuries and the rugged, unspoiled, mountainous terrain has nurtured numerous ethnic groups within its remote, protective folds. These distinct cultural and linguistic traditions continue to this day, uninfluenced by the outside world.
Amanresorts has been accorded a great privilege in being the first foreign company allowed to open a series of properties throughout different regions of Bhutan.
The Kingdom’s only airport is located in Paro. Druk Air, Bhutan’s national carrier, flies to Paro Airport from Delhi, (Calcutta), Kathmandu, Bangkok, Dhaka, Bodhgaya and Bagdora. Druk Air adheres to schedules as closely as possible barring vagaries of weather, low cloud, and occasional impromptu requests for seats by special delegations which may result in denied boarding for a few passengers.
Amanresorts recommends that guests fly into Paro from Bangkok, where Aman representatives can assist with the Druk Air check-in. The flight takes approximately three hours and 20 minutes, typically with early morning departure times. Guests can also fly to and from Delhi with a flight time of approximately two hours and twenty minutes, typically with late morning departure times. Flight schedules can be subject to change.
A dedicated Amankora Reservations team will assist with itinerary planning, Druk Air flight reservations, visa applications for Bhutan and all other aspects of your journey. Contact us at Tel: (975) 8 272 333 or email amankora@amanresorts.com.
