spa
Adjacent to the Boutique is the Aman Spa which consists of five separate buildings surrounded by bamboo groves, tea bushes and Magnolia trees. The Reception and Reflexology House is the first building accessed from Fayun Pathway via a shaded courtyard, and contains the spa library, lounge and consultation area. A wooden stairway leads to the second floor where traditional reflexology foot and hand massages are offered. From the rear of the Reception and Reflexology House, a stone footpath leads to the rest of the spa houses.
The second building is the Bath House. This contains three treatment rooms that allow guests to relax alone or as a couple. Each treatment room is equipped with a circular wooden soaking tub, a rain shower, a steam room and double-seated showers. The building adjacent to the Bath House is the Fitness Centre. This comprises two levels around a central courtyard shaded by weeping willows. On the lower level and directly adjacent to the Yongfu Temple wall is a separate Tai Chi, yoga and meditation room. A fully-equipped gym is located directly across the courtyard and a stairway leads from the gym to the second level which houses the Aman Pilates Studio. Further along the stone footpath is the Finishing Salon where hair spa treatments, manicures, pedicures and waxing are offered.
The last two-storey structure within the spa complex is the Treatment House which comprises three double and two single treatment rooms. Each room features a changing area, steam shower, toilet and soaking tub. Massage and body treatments draw from traditional Chinese massage and reflexology, as well as from ancient Asian healing therapies. At the end of every treatment, guests are served fresh herbal tea in private relaxation areas.
luxury spa treatments
The Aman Spa at Amanfayun reflects various interconnected aspects of Chinese health and wellness traditions combined with the finest international spa practices and treatments. The Signature Bamboo Massage uses heated bamboo rollers combined with warming oils and gentle pressure. Known as “Tui Na”, the Traditional Chinese Massage is an oil-free massage technique that focuses on stretching and kneading the muscles while stimulating acupressure points. The Signature Herbal Massage is a deep tissue massage combining fresh herbal steamed poultices and optional cupping to warm the body and melt away fatigue and stiffness. Amanfayun’s spa menu also reflects the resort’s natural setting, with four treatments inspired by the region’s four distinct seasons. Each of the four treatments is centred on a specific plant, which grows locally at that time of year.
spring
Inspired by spring, a time of new beginnings and setting intentions, these treatments use freshly-picked Longjing (Dragon Well) Green tea grown and harvested around Amanfayun. The treatments focus on the stimulation of creative impulses while promoting tranquillity.
summer
Fresh Zhu Zi (bamboo) shoots signal the arrival of summer throughout China. Summer is a time for nurturing, replenishing the earth and seeking coolness during the heat of midday. These refreshing treatments are designed to relieve tension, cool the body and energise the spirit.
autumn
The fragrant Gui Hua flower (Sweet Osmanthus) blooms during autumn and is the chosen flower of Hangzhou City. Gilded with gold, autumn is a time of harvest, of reaping what we’ve sown. These treatments emphasize deep and powerful bodywork with the use of Chinese herbs to detoxify and stimulate.
winter
The winter seasonal plant is Jiang (wild ginger) traditionally used for its Yang (warming) qualities to increases blood circulation and stimulate digestion. Winter is a time to hibernate and find stillness within. These therapeutic treatments provide a sense of comfort, warmth and serenity.
