Steenberg Hotel recently added a new distinction to its fascinating history when it introduced the three extraordinary Heritage Suites that celebrate its National Monument status.
The Suites are a contemporary interpretation and a tribute to three distinct historic periods in the history of the Cape whilst offering Five Star accommodation and service excellence.
The suites have been created within the Jonkershuis (most of the Cape Estates had these “young man houses”), and have been done within the constraints laid down in the Law for an Historic Building, the exterior of which is not permitted to be altered in any way. The interiors have been changed dramatically, as Government are prepared to be flexible about this provided “new life is being breathed” into an old building.
These Suites will exceed the expectations of even the most discerning of travellers.
The three large Heritage Suites are as follows:
Cape Town’s rich colonial and cultural history has contributed to this style, with sources as widely different as medieval Holland and Germany, the French Huguenots and the islands of Indonesia. This suite has access to the Heritage Suites pool.
