A Girls Night In at The Berkeley

The Berkeley hotel could hardly be better located if it shifted an inch, let alone a mile. It is ranked among the best hotels in London - quite a mean feat - and right now I would say it was the outright winner for "buzziness". Only The Berkeley has: at one end of the ground floor, Marcus Wareing at The Berkeley, featuring marvellous Michelin-wonder Marcus Wareing and his adorable celebrity maitre d' sidekick Jean-Philippe Susilovic, creating a stir in and out of the kitchen; in the middle, the lobby and the civilized and deeply comfortable Caramel Room serving breakfast, high tea and drinks to film directors and the in-crowd; and, at the other end, the Blue Bar, "The" watering hole from twilight to bird-song. If that isn't enough, Gordon Ramsay's chic Boxwood Café is attached next door. A few doors down from the hotel is shopping Shangri-la with Harvey Nichols, Harrods and Sloane Street, and a short cab drive away is the whole wide West End. Hyde Park, our featured glorious park this month, is a short stroll away and the sensational Health Club and Spa has tuned itself into the 21st Century with a view to the next; from anti-ageing revitalizing treatments to DDF Microdermabrasion and Dramatic Radiance, this Spa is phenomenal.

However, this month we are featuring The Berkeley's exclusive "Girls' Night In Weekend'. The Christmas period takes its toll on all of us: excess consumption of calories, stress, deadlines, face-lines combined with S.A.D (Seasonal Affective Disorder) has left many of us a touch low. Family time is essential but friendships can provide the January/February ingredient that the inner sanctum is missing. This weekend is dedicated to building, bonding, laughing, chilling and spoiling. Throw out the responsibilities for a night, leave the mental luggage behind and enjoy a tonic that Glaxo Smithkline would love to bottle.

For a "Girl's Night In Weekend" the scene is set with sensual aromas from the classic Dyptique candles in the room to chilled strawberries and cream cosmopolitan cocktails made in the capital's celebrated Blue Bar. It's a good start and it only gets better: films from Breakfast At Tiffany's to Harry Met Sally are stacked alongside the DVD player, which you can laugh and cry over while having your mini-manicure or tucking into buckets of popcorn. They have left little out of this weekend, creating a perfect setting for unwinding and releasing enough serotonin, our happy molecule, to keep you going for some time.
